I had so much fun styling this ottoman in our living room. It is amazing what a difference adding this tray made not only to the ottoman but to the entire room. It made the room look “finished” and made me want to curl up with a good book and a cup of team in this cozy nook of our room.
A couple of key things to think about when styling an ottoman:
1.) Make it easily movable
I love that all the items are on a tray so that if the kids want set up a game of checkers on the ottoman I can just pick up the tray and put it to the side and then put it back once they are done. This way I don’t have to move each piece individually and restyle everything again.
It is nice also if we are having a party and we want to move to the living room for drinks we can bring the tray and ambience with us!
2.) Engage different heights
I think that engaging different heights in any display really pulls people in and makes the display interesting to our eye.
3.) Use different textures
Similarly to engaging different heights, the use of different textures makes a display look interesting and engaging. By using the balls made out of branches, the candle, and the soft flowers people are drawn to the display.
4.) Use an odd number of items
This is a trick that my mother always taught me. That when you group things together you always want to use odd numbers, and for some reason it always works! I have tried to do the same display before with even and odd numbered items and the odd number display always looks better!
