Updating light fixtures is a great way to great maximum impact with little investment. Lighting really changes the style and feel of a room. By replacing our builder grade light pendants over the island and the chandelier over the kitchen table we were able to create a rustic farmhouse feel in the room. Make sure to check out the price on these pendant lights, they are crazy inexpensive!!
Choosing hardware can be stressful since once the holes are drilled it may limit switching out hardware in the future. In all my home purchases I try to select timeless pieces especially for more permanent items. I ask myself, would this choice look awful and strange in a 100 year farmhouse? It it would have looked good 100 years ago, it will probably look good 100 years from now. I also think about where I want to take this room in the future and if the purchase today will fit well within that vision. Eventually I want to paint the cabinets gray and get a white back splash. In looking for hardware, I tried to pick hardware that would fit well within that vision. You definitely need to check out the price on this hardware I selected, a GREAT bargain! I was able to update the hardware for all the cabinets and drawers in our kitchen for under $100 dollars!!!! I used the larger 5″ inch bar pull for the vertical pulls on the cabinets and the 3 3/4″ inch bar pull for the horizontal pulls on the drawers.
Home decor is a great way to add warmth and set the tone for the space. I wanted to create a rustic farmhouse feel to the kitchen and had a large canvas to use over our kitchen sink. Was able to add this huge rustic sign and homemade wreaths to create a cozy feel to the kitchen.
