Just finished Phase 2 of my Living Room refresh! Wanted to update this beautiful large wall shelf that we had bought many years ago to create a fresh center point of the room above the couch. Here are the key components to decorating your own wall shelf, Affiliate links:
Set the foundation
I love having this massive wall shelf because it creates such a statement in the room and creates a canvas for that entire wall. We have had this shelf in our living room for many years but I did find a similar large wall shelf at a very reasonable price!
Create a center focus
You want to create a center focus for the shelf to anchor it within the room. In the case of our shelf I picked a black & white photo of my daughter. I love this black and white matted frame that establishes the centerpiece art.
This is my grownup room that typically the kids do not play in (unless they are playing the piano) that I like to read in at night after bedtime. I wanted to add lighting that made it feel like a retreat from the rest of the house. In going with the theme of the piano styling I wanted to add some glamorous elements as well as some rustic elements. I added some glass candle holders, rustic wood candle holders, and flameless candles that work with a remote to create a cozy grownup retreat that sets the tone for the space.
Add an earthy element
I always try to add an earthy element to any decor that I do. I think it makes the decor come alive and adds a cozy feel. I have two toparies on either side of the shelf completing the look.
Add a seasonal element
Love how this wall shelf decor sets the tone for the living room and makes it a cozy and inviting centerpiece for the space.
