My kids are always asking me to decorate for Halloween and I am always confused by this question because in my opinion we do. We have cute felt pumpkins and adorable fall decor all over the house. They say this is Fall decor not Halloween decor! They want witches, spiders, and black cats. So as in many times in life, we compromise. We find ways to incorporate Halloween into our existing home decor without my house turning into one of those scary Halloween stores!
A perfect example is this Halloween tray that I did for our family room bench. I love that it incorporates Halloween elements (like the witch and Halloween colors) into our existing home decor (white pumpkins, mercury glass candle holders, and earthy wreath). Affiliate links:
How to create this look:
Classic Metal Tray
A classic metal tray is such a great classic canvas for any decorative vignette that you want to create. I love that it reflects the light of a candle and I love pairing it with my mercury glass candle holders!
Love this gorgeous Halloween Jar I received from Nite At The Craft Table. This will be perfect lit up at night to create that Halloween feel and it fits just perfect with this tray of fall decor.
Mercury Glass Candle Holders
Love using mercury glass candle holders in any decor vignette because similar to cake plates, they are great at creating varying height within a scene. You can use them for so much more than candles too, in this case I have them holding pumpkins, was also thinking about having them holding bowls of different Halloween candy!
I always make sure to incorporate an earthy green element into any decor vignette because well, it just looks better! It fills in gaps and ties all the elements together. Love these boxwood wreaths that would work great for this purpose.
You have a little more time to prepare for Halloween night! Get shopping and have some fun, can’t wait to see what you create!
