Teachers do so much every day to make our kids feel special and to help them grow and learn. I love to create a gift for them during the holiday season to let them know how much they are loved and appreciated! Here are some things to think about when creating the perfect teacher gift.
Think about what makes them special
What are some things that make this particular teacher so special? Is it their love of books, a favorite class motto, something they do above and beyond for their students? My daughter’s teacher has a class motto which is “Leave a little sparkle wherever you go”. It is even in their classroom rules which I love! To represent this motto had this custom lettered card made for her by Blue Bonnet Designs and then framed it in a pink glitter frame.
Create a Theme
In this case, my theme was “Leave a little sparkle wherever you go” so all the items were either sparkly or glitter to fit with this teacher’s motto.
Is your teacher into a specific sports team? My husband is a teacher and we went to the University of Illinois, and any time he gets Illini gear he loves it.
For my other daughter’s teacher this year we are going to create a favorites basket. We got a list of all her favorite things (candy, books, restaurants, food) so we are going to create a basket including these items! Creating a theme that personalizes the gift to your teacher’s personality is a great way to create a meaningful and thoughtful gift that shows that you know them and have put a lot of thought into creating something special for them.
I love personalized gifts with a persons name or monogram on them! Makes the gift so much more special! In the case of this present I had HandMade by LisaJ personalize the glitter basket and glitter water bottle with our teacher’s name. Lisa is super great to work with, I am always bringing her things to personalize for me and she does a fantastic job. You can find her on Instagram!
I love doing gift baskets, they are my favorite because they make such a visual impact! Love using some sort of basket filled with goodies and wrapped up in cellophane with a bow!
I love buying local for our teachers because we have such a close knit community and love to support one another! In the case of this gift basket I used two local mom’s to create the personalization (Blue Bonnet Designs for the framed art and Handmade by LisaJ for the personalization). I also purchase bags of popcorn for all my kids support teachers and staff (Librarian, Music teacher, Gym teacher, Art teacher, etc.) from Kernels, a popcorn store in Geneva, IL. They have very reasonable priced bags of popcorn that everyone loves!
The holiday season is a great way to show our teachers how much we love and appreciate them!
