Time for one of my very favorite segments of the week! HFH Tribe where we take home decor design and shopping questions from you! Please keep the questions coming in, we love to hear from you!
This week we are going to be responding to a reader trying to figure out how to decorate the large space over her couch. She mentioned that she already has several gallery walls so she wants something different than that. She has kept the blank wall as a visual pause because there is so much else going on with the space but that it is looking unfinished. I think the key to selecting a piece for this space is selecting something that is neutral and allows for a visual pause but makes the room look complete as well. I have some great options to show you! The links in this post contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission at no cost to you if you make a purchase after clicking on my link.
I love the idea of using mirrors for this space because the walls and items are a darker color. By putting mirrors over the couch you are going to immediately brighten the space up making it feel larger and lighter! My living room has a darker wall color and accents and limited lighting. Adding a large mirror to the room has transformed the space making it much brighter. Mirrors are also the perfect neutral accent for a room! They make the space appear complete but don’t compete with the existing decor in the room. This reader mentioned that she loves wood and metal pieces for a rustic industrial look so I feel like the above two pieces would fit perfectly with her existing decor. I would order three of the arched mirrors and place them similarly to the picture above or one of the Shandi Wall Mirror.
Distressed White Metal
By adding in the distressed white metal you keeping with the rustic industrial feel but breaking up the darker colors and allowing a pause for the viewer. I would order four of the Vintage Ceiling Pressed Tin Tiles as displayed to the left or one of the Antique Architectural Wall Art pieces as displayed to the right.
Light Wood Art
Love these two neutral and unique pieces that would lighten the space and not distract from the other parts of the room. How cool is that piece to the right made of real white birch trees?! So unique and love all the texture of that piece brings to the table! The beautiful reclaimed wood art piece to the left would be beautiful for this space too!
